ParkingLotGrass have today announced their May 5th EP Title and album cover art which can be seen here. Contrary to earlier unconfirmed reports that speculated a self-titled EP, the band has named the album “Shimo Mfukoni” after one of their newer tracks and which is likely to be among PLG’s next single releases. Shimo Mfukoni, which translates to “Hole in my Pocket” in Swahili is a track about people’s every day struggles to make ends meet in a world and country where it’s getting harder for the common man to make a living in the so called ‘rat race’. It’s a song about desperation, struggle, and hope at the same time.
Meanwhile, the EP cover art was created by local designer, Brian Omolo alongside the band. “I wanted to try something different from my previous projects and it was my first time working with a band… I tried to capture as much of the inspiration I drew from PLG’s music and do it justice,” said Brian.
The EP being PLG’s first collection of recorded tracks since formation in 2010 will feature previously unreleased tracks as well as the December & February singles, “Etched On My Heart” and “Speed Chaser”.
